Pakistani security forces reported Monday that they successfully foiled an attempt at infiltrating militants along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, killing 54 militants – in what officials considered “one of their highest ever operations”.

ISPR reported that a large group of heavily armed militants attempted to breach into Pakistani tribal regions from Afghanistan. Acting upon intelligence reports, security forces responded quickly with coordinated operations designed to intercept these infiltrators, leading them into an intense firefight that lasted several hours before its end.

ISPR released an ISPR statement detailing an attempt at mass infiltration involving numerous terrorists. With quick, coordinated response by our forces, 54 terrorists were neutralized while others fled back over the border.

ISPR reported that an attempted infiltration took place in North Waziristan and Kurram, both areas notoriously used by militant groups for activity. ISPR stated that militants possessed sophisticated weapons and explosives indicating a well-planned assault designed to destabilize border regions.

Pakistani military officials hailed the operation as an important win against terrorist networks operating from Afghan soil, according to Pakistan’s ISPR (Inter Service Public Relations). They stressed their unwavering dedication towards safeguarding territorial integrity and protecting citizens in Pakistan.

Authorities emphasized that this operation was conducted with care to limit collateral damage and safeguard civilian populations nearby, with no Pakistani forces reported having suffered casualties as a result of the action.

Pakistan has recently voiced its alarm over what it believes to be the rise in anti-Pakistan terrorist groups operating freely within Afghanistan since Taliban’s return. Islamabad has called upon Kabul to take stronger measures against these groups – particularly Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) elements accused of orchestrating cross-border attacks.

Afghanistan’s interim government has denied using its territory against neighboring countries, yet tensions between Islamabad and Kabul over border security issues have escalated rapidly.

Political leaders and analysts in Pakistan hailed Monday’s operation, calling it an essential move to send a strong message to militant groups. Defense analyst Major (Retd.) Irshad Khan applauded Pakistan’s forces for showing resilience and professionalism when facing cross-border threats.

As security forces ratchet up surveillance along the volatile border, authorities have cautioned of further infiltration attempts and pledged their full force against any threats that arise.
